The Optical Galerie was established in 1977 by Ursula Cubranich (1938-2023), a second-generation optical store retailer / eye care provider. In 1948 Hans Wilhelm Kohler (Ursula's father) became an Optikmeister and opened his shop in Germany on the island of Sylt. In 1988 Ursula's son Mark entered into the business after graduating with an Associates in Applied Science degree in Opticianry and successfully completing the Virginia state licensing exam. The Optical Galerie was originally located in the Snyder Square Shopping Center in Hatfield for over 26 years until 2004 when it moved to its current location in Souderton. Ursula retired in 2006 and Mark continues the business providing the same quality and attention to detail that has kept each generation of businesses successful. In January 2024 we celebrated 20 years in Souderton and over 40 years in the Montgomery and Bucks County area.

Mark is a licensed Optician in the state of Virginia. Pennsylvania requires NO credentialing, certification or education to dispense prescription eyewear. There are no requirements, certifications or licenses needed to make medical equipment for your eyes.
